֎ Title Screen Add-On Plugin

AVAILABLE The Title Screen Add-On plugin adds several features to the Title Screen (as the title suggests).

The latest version has been rewritten to accommodate some of the new features, such as Splash Screen, and to make provision for my Q-Engine Core plugin (released later this year).

This plugin contains a number of "pluginlets", including my Pretitle Movie Plugin (no longer available), which I wrote when RMMV was first released. I combined them into a single add-on to make it easier to maintain and update.

These are the main features in the Title Screen Add-On plugin:

  • Pretitle Movie – Plays a movie before the Title Screen.
  • Skip Title – Allows you to skip the title screen and go straight to the start map.
  • Change Title Font – Change the title’s font to a more appropriate one for your game.
  • Main Title Splash Effect – Add a splash effect to the title.
  • Title Header & Footer – Displays text above and below the main game title.
  • Menu Position Offset – Change the menu position (x- and y-offsets) on the screen.
  • Scrolling Borders – Animated horizontal and vertical border (or other) images.
  • Weather Effects – Use a weather effect (Rain, Storm or Snow) for an added dimension, including weather sounds.
  • Website Command – Adds a command to visit a website (opens in a new window).
All options can be tweaked to your preferences in the Plugin Manager. The rest is straightforward. I’ve tried to make the Help section as comprehensive as possible as well.
This video is from an older version of the plugin. It’s actually taken from a web series I’m planning on doing some time this year.

Note: This log is out-of-date because I changed the way I update. This’ll be updated later. For an up-to-date version of this log, you can view it in the CW_TitleScreenAddon Version History.txt file from within the downloaded ZIP file.

The Title Screen Add-On plugin was originally written specifically The Adventures of Tryggr, but it comprised many of the pluginlets I wrote for RMMV after its initial release.

This plugin was going to be released after the game’s release, but I decided not to do that. The original version of this plugin was heavily modified for the game, with several settings overwritten for its purposes too (a bad thing to do in the first place).

With the public release, everything has been properly organized, aliased and referenced. Since its release, the plugin has evolved into something beyond its original purposes.

The plugin must be installed in RMMV’s Plugin Manager to run. All of the settings can be changed in the Parameters section.

There are no additional plugin settings to change.

There shouldn’t be compatibility issues. However, movies will not play if they’re not in the correct format.

Although the Title Screen Add-On plugin is fully functional, there are still a few kinks to iron out.

  • Premature or Delayed BGM/BGS – Occasionally, the Title Screen’s BGM/BGS will play midway through the pretitle movie. There may also be a slight delay in the music playing after the pretitle movie is finished loading. This (I suspect) is due to the way RMMV preloads and caches things.

There are other bugs as well, but those are minor.

Download the CW_TitleScreenAddon.js file directly into the JS folder in your RMMV project.

NOTE: This plugin has had a complete overhaul for the QEngine Core plugin (currently in Private Beta). Although I’ll no longer actively update it, this version will remain available as a separate plugin. Updates to this plugin will only be for bug fixes and patches.
You are free to use this in non-commercial projects, but please refer to the RMMV Plugins Terms of Use for other details, including commercial use.
